PRESS RELEASE

21 June 2000

PHASING OUT OF 400mm LATH
The GPDA representing the manufacturers of plasterboard in Great Britain have announced their intention to discontinue their supply of 400mm lath. This will be effective from 1 August 2000.

Lath was one of the original plasterboard products to be introduced as a base for plastering. Its use has been superseded by other plasterboard products which are more appropriate to modern construction techniques. As a consequence demand for lath has been declining for a number of years.

The GPDA represents British Gypsum, Knauf and Lafarge in Great Britain and is active in developing and promoting the use of gypsum products to meet the changing needs of the construction industry.
